Powerful. Confident. Savvy.
When you think of a successful CEO what traits come to mind? Would you have used the same three descriptions if we were speaking about you? If no, why not?
You were born into the role of CEO of you. Nobody else has qualifications to take on that position. That in itself is pretty powerful.
Just like being in charge of a business, being in charge of ourselves takes genuine investment and ownership.
Invest: What have you done lately to motivate your employees “you, yourself and my?” Have you taken the time to get to know what you are passionate about? Set a meeting with yourself to get reacquainted. Tune off external noise and listen to your heart. Each one of us has something that drives us. When you find your spark it will start spilling over into everything you do, thus showing the world what your “personal brand” is all about.
Own: Embrace who you are, the whole you. We all have strengths and we all have weaknesses. Imperfection is what makes us human, unique and relatable. Never doubt who you are and what your represent. If you are an introvert, own your ability to be introspective while others talk. If you are creative, never apologize for thinking differently. It takes less energy to own who you are than to pretend to be someone you are not. If you find yourself faking your way through your day you are probably a very tired person. Why do we try so hard to fit in when all we want to do is stand out, get recognition and be liked for who we are?
The CEO of you owns your story, your behavior, your thoughts and your future. Are you up for the job or willing to let someone else take the position? It’s your choice.
